Admittedly took me a bit to adjust to the sudden Mars cutaway, but this really sold me. The creeping dread as each of those cities were listed one by one...
You've absolutely nailed the atmosphere and setting for this world. It's still beating, still going, but suffocating—literally. The research you likely put into this to make it more realistic too just really helps ground everything and make it feel more real. (Like, phytoplankton was going to be my first thought when it came to oxygen-producers in the world, so knowing they too were dying just hit the point across how disastrous this is)
Their banter in bed is so great, ugh 😭 But damn, things are really getting heated now, and not in the way Kael and Elisa would probably prefer
That was some Lord of the Flies stuff going on for a moment, yeesh. That kind of stuff is going to scar those poor kids 😭

I... did not expect that. Honestly, tearing up while writing this. The suddenty of it is very... real. The same thing had more or less happened to my father. One day he was here, the next he just wasn't. You captured that feeling very well.
