Can't decide if I wish Mr. Higginbottom well or abject despair, although I must admit he makes for an entertaining narrator. Wasn't sure how the epistolary approach would work, but yes, I find it satisfying.

wow what do you have against japanese curry!!?

so, overall this kind of story isn't really my thing, but i did enjoy it. i thought the fable set-up was intriguing, particularly because there's something about the narration of the story that feels fable-like to me. there's a distance between the narrator and the characters that matches that sort of holds the reader apart. it makes for a unique reading experience!

also, doing a psych horror from povs ends up being kind of neat, since yuuto and kou aren't being horrorized by the same things at the same time. the observing stuffed bear was my favorite part; that was where i felt the uncertainty and tension was at its highest.
