If I could rewrite the story, I would definitely add Runo's "slip-ups". He is supposed to be similar to Lewis, albeit he doesn't need a stress relief rock. Runo is haha, a little crazy, so I had imagined him accidentally letting out a freaky giggle or smirk if he starves for too long. His original personality was one who was kind and ambitious, yet very naive (hence dropping his school/career for the scientist in hopes he can do more than what education will offer, only for him to get pushed aside and Marinette didn't stand up for him.) Current Runo is reserved, cold, calculative, but there are times when his old personality comes back and he feels for other people.
In a way, he's as hypocritical as it gets. He uses Netty, but genuinely cares for her at the same time if that makes sense. That "unwanted" empathy has kept him from tossing her aside and he validated his need to be around her by convincing himself he needs her around to do most of the dirty work (which is why whenever they battle, it's often Runo running and strategizing and Netty battling) I'll admit he is a hard character to write since his personality is pretty much a split, but I had considered that if I were to write a volume 2, I wanted Runo to be the MC this time.
As for Dolly's goal and Dr. Arlott as a character, let's just say I didn't technically reveal everything he said to her in the room so OTL She finished the mission of finding out who the scientist is, as for why Dr. Arlott sent her in circles or what's behind his motives, that's something I can only reveal in a possible second novel lmao
Alas for the restricted time I had plus all the other things going on in life, I can't say I am satisfied with my work to the fullest especially when it comes to prose and writing quality, but I am happy to know that I did something over the summer and put my passion into this OTL I think the story has potential, at least the concepts of it. IDK about my writing skills LMAO
