Runo is stuck as a 23 year old and this was insinuated in the next chapter when he stated he worked with Dr. Arlott for 6 years x) In current time though, he *should* be 43.

The idea of human-monsters remaining eternally young was also hinted in this chapter when Runo said "the inability to grow" lol

Yes, while Lewis was meant to trick the reader, I’m surprised that you thought about the possibility of it and concluded it can’t be him since he has Rise. Brilliant catch, at this point I wouldn’t be surprised if you theorized the whole plot LMAO

This is where the whole “it’s all planned/questionable ethics” come into play. Since you read the whole story technically I can say this to you but, Dr. Arlott and Headquarters supposedly don’t get along.

Here we have a scientist who was willing to eradicate humanity of flaws, practically a eugenics supporter, and then now that the world’s constitution is altered and we have humans as literal monsters. And Headquarters is hypothetically investigating realms and recruiting “people”.

It’s a huge storyline that’s meant to be complexed, so this volume barely touched anything nor could it answer anything OTL

You’re right, in a way the characters are all dealing with reality differently. Dolly is angry, she’s tired, and she’s becoming more of the aggressive type as she’s fighting these monsters, whereas Netty tries her best to stay positive for her teammates but is slowly falling. Really appreciate your thorough analysis!! ^u^

Now that you’ve read it all and you look back to his actions here it makes sense xD

As much as he “cares” for others he still uses people, and for Iris it’s no different. RIP she didn’t turn into an energy bar after all this SMH

Tbh if I’m going to tease a little regarding the true story behind RA, it tackles a lot of ethics and politics. Behind the symbolism of humans being monsters literally and figuratively, it’s also why I leave a lot of characters vague because people don’t really know one another and their intentions x)

Runo is a lot more involved with the cleansing of humans. That’s all I’ll say though :,)

Chapters like this is why unbreathing becomes a reality for a second because I can’t handle character pain ;-; Specifically though, love how well rounded Khan as a character is when he’s with different folks. Now I can’t even say who’s my top favorite. They keep changing, I love everyone OTL
