THANK YOU FOR BEING BRUTALLY HONEST AND TAKING THE TIME TO FEEDBACK!
(This reply had been retyped three times since my fingers slipped and refresh the page that many times...
ヽ(*゚д゚)ノ)
The random release schedule is indeed a very big problem; irl just takes and it takes and it takes. I would have thrown in the towel had FG below not whined abt completing beside my ears (Thx, Feist, now go finish Seed, got all the time in the world~)
Did not help when I don't limit each upload in terms of words, but on a narrative standpoint that I feel is good to be left on ("The Insomniac" and "Lockers" were originally meant to be a single chapter all abt his misadventures at the lack of sleep had the conditions being allowing...)
Funny thing is I entered round 2 reminding myself not to make similar mistakes again but somehow, I'm still doing it like I did for CirCular!!
"Openly cut short"-wise, I have successfully suss out the problem to be ambitious ideation. I actually had 25 characters in mind for EI7 while brainstorming, each with their own traits and stories since I did not want any of them to just be background characters (But how many of them were even mentioned?). As such, it became a story that could never be finish within the short three months of the contest.
Still got to tweak what a good length would be for a complete story told in three months so here's to more experimentation and practice! (Would love to hear from you on what are some good completed stories you have read ao far~)
You got it completely right that this is a "monster of the week"esque structure, with the cast interacting with the myriad of abnormalies and phenomena of the Institute and thereby in the process revealing a bit more abt their person and the such.
If it is convenient for you, would you kindly share more abt what is it abt the weekly stuff that ends so abruptly?
(シ_ _)シ
Code-wise:
Don't worry abt it!
They are just serial numbers for the abnormalies/ phenomena observed, like Homo Sapiens and bar codes, slight references to where the idea for the chapter come from or what the thimg is abt. For eg:
- B0707: Category B, July Seventh, date of Tanabat
- C0504: Category C, between 0.5-4.0 Hz, frequencies of delta waves normally experienced during non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep
- C1300: Category C, 13:00hrs, being well, 13:00 hrs
- D2906: Category D, June 29th, first upload of "This Boredom of Mine"
But they don't necessarily diminish the story if went unsolved~
So, that's the metastory so far and the lessons learnt, I will take you guys up on your offer and take full pride for having (narrowly) completing both contests!
