Stumbled onto this, I was always hooked to the "Lonely Observer" type stories, especially ones that lean heavy on the forlorness and detachment one would have in the same position, so I was glad that Mr Observer adhered strictly to their job!
The pronoun game is strong with this one too, deliberately telling the story in first person to hide that twist. Although, I began to pick up that gender didn't really matter when towards the end, the "his"s, "her"s and "they"s began to be used rather interchangeably~
Does this need a Nishimiya-Hotaru reunion epilogue? That would be great but ending it open like this had a "FICTION" feel to it...
Then again, this isn't a goodbye, but more of a "See you again", isn't it?
