Paradise is basically Sword Art Online but you don't die in reality if you die in the game. There is no logging out, they are all trapped there, and the simulation ends in five years from its start date.
Though, even though it's just a "game", the connections people make with others are still really real. People still feel pain, they still feel emotions, heartbreak, betrayal, euphoria---so I don't really believe it's much different from real life at that point.
Like imagine being stabbed to death in Paradise and the person stabbing you is telling you that you're overreacting to getting stabbed to death, even though you're feeling the exact same pain and fear of death you would in reality
So, at some point, it's not just a "game" anymore but the real deal that's indistinguishable from real life. Though I prefer the term "experiment" or "simulation" rather than game
