NOOOOO YOU DIDNT JUST END IT LIKE THIS BROOOO COME OOON! Where’s Brigham being happy I need him to be happy man! Although I can understand his torment. Making a “simple” decision that affects who lives and who doesn’t really warps your understanding of how the world works especially at such a young age and when you combine that with KILLING YOUR FRIEND? Yeah it broke him. It’s like he’s refusing to accept the “sins” he committed in his mind are the right thing to do based on how good the reports about him are. He’s struggling to decide whether he should let his dream twist his thinking or abandon it altogether and remain as he is: a morally right person.
Despite the bittersweet ending and the vagueness of what comes next for our main character I will choose the optimist route as always and think that his friends managed to pull him out of the depths and helped him find his happiness and his purpose in life, be it Captain or not! So happy to see the rest get their happy endings though! Ana and Roy I’m still on that ship even if it’s imaginary 🚢 Ljubiša and Lei Mei as well 🚢 AND HITOMI IN JAPAN AAAA 🇯🇵
Ćunfre bro let me just say a few words about the story. I think that you wrote an amazing story and shouldn’t let the results of the contest downplay how much of a great job you did with it! It was amazingly thought out, and I’m sure if it were not for the word restrictions you’d have even more with these characters. But that doesn’t take from its quality as is that’s for sure! Your understanding of human morals and the way you utilised them in the story should definitely be commended. If there is one thing I like reading or watching is seeing morality being tested, and viewing a different point of view from different sides. Not to mention the political system you used! I think writing a story is one thing, and showing real world events through characters is another, and you did both with flying marks my friend! You managed to built a tight nicked team in which everyone got their moment and made the reader pick favourites, likes and dislikes, and then make them love everyone equally ❤️ the whole premise of space was handled perfectly too, although being the adventure geek that I am I would have loved more “trials to overcome” for our crew 😅
Last point and one I never mentioned but feel like the right time is now: From the very first moment I started reading, I somehow knew you’re a writer that’s very in tune with what your character should be feeling! And it turned out to be true! Which is one of the reasons why the story was so enjoyable to read!
Man I’ll miss reading this story that’s for sure 😭 Again, great job on completing such a wonderful tale my friend! 🇬🇷 🇷🇸
P.S. EVEN THE TITLE BRO! I just realised what it means. At first I thought you’d show through Ana and Roy (and not only) that the world isn’t as utopic as in all stories (Ah we’re all the same! Kiss kiss make up just like that). I was glad I was actually wrong with that because while sometimes stories especially in anime show a very hopeful and not so realistic resolution in conflicts I dont necessarily believe it’s a bad thing. The world as is needs hope even if it’s overplayed. I believe it’s better to show hope in a story than brutal cynical realism. But if you do both? Peak. And you did! Everyone got their happy ending! Expect Brigham… now I think that’s where the title comes in. “the world doesn’t change so easily” is a play at how not everyone can be happy in the end, and it basically revolves around Brigham struggling with his decisions on despite the fact they led to his friends living happy lives, they messed with his own sense of morality and personal feelings.
