Nah this got me all emotional dude 😭😭😭 I thought for a moment we were gonna get a super cliffhanger ending, causing me to throw my phone across the room (glad it didn’t happen)
Miliheim pissed me off during that conversation back there I have to admit… man didn’t even let Aubrey and Shiera talk he just assumed 😤 Hoping he gets to see how wrong he is in the book! IF he’s in the new book…
Uff, all in all, since it’s the last chapter I’ll try to leave my thoughts here as a means of a lazy review:
First of all, what I’d like to say about Maho No Gakko: Chromatic, is that despite seeming like an isekai, school, magic type of story, that’s been done plenty of times before, I can definitely say it had, for me at least, something really unique to it. Maybe it was the spirits? Maybe it was the use of magic and how it was implemented into the story? Maybe it was the time travelling? Shiera’s mysterious sickle? Maybe it’s the questions that have still been left unanswered, and will probably be addressed in the next book? Maybe! But still, that unique feel defines Maho No Gakko for me. I think there’s been some REAL thought put into this story, especially because you the author loved it so much and wanted to make it the best possible. I always appreciate that 👏
As far as the characters are concerned, I think they were definitely refreshing. They weren’t just a one-dimensional copy of something else you’ve probably seen a hundred times just so they could fill the side-character roles. Of course, there were similarities to some tropes, but they never got too close to even being remotely the same. Shiera for me really was the highlight of the series Chromatic, and despite the short amount of time in-story (1 month? Damn…) she really seemed way more mature during the end. At first she seemed rather egotistical, and simple but as the story went on you could feel that something within her shifted. Maybe it was the fact she had to protect her brother? Maybe it was her interactions with Sakira? Like I said, maybe! Also her and Aubrey’s relationship during the end was really sweet. I felt they both needed that interaction with one another, because even if they did not say it out outright you could feel the appreciation between them you know?
Also WHY AKA MAN? Poor Marisa now I feel really bad for her dude 😭😭😭
Ultimately, and probably because I’m feeling overwhelmed for just having read the ending, I can’t draw any negatives yet. Maybe it’s just me, but I generally don’t like pointing out bad things. Who’s to say like, oh this wasn’t believable, or how did ABC react that way that’s totally out of character? The author is the one who crafts his characters and setting and nobody knows better. This story was unique for me, and I’m sure that for every fault one could find, the author who actually wrote the story has an answer for it deep within them, you know? Unless it’s sloppy writing, or there are definitive plot holes. BUT that is not the case here so let’s not drag it out further.
Uff, it’s been around a year since I first started reading I think? Idk I’ll check, but it defo feels that way.
At last thanks for writing Arufa, if you’ve made it this far in the comment that is 😅
Congratulations for finishing the story, and I can’t wait for the next one! 🫶🏻
