Had a bad feeling all the way back during her first POV chapter when she said she couldn't tell anybody about her future. Unfortunate to see the prediction came true (for her, I mean. Story-wise, I'm interested to see where this leads)

I would love to do a story set in Imperial Japan one day. Would definitely have to approach it the right way though. And if you couldn't tell yet, postwar Japan is my favorite part of Japanese history to study
Don't think I've rode a bike since middle school, but if I were to ever ride one again, it would be if I found a place like that

One day you'll reference an anime that I've seen and it'll be a beautiful day. But you're certainly giving me a nice backlog to watch. As for the train crossing itself - that was inspired by a line filled with similar melancholy in the film The Place Promised in Our Early Days

No need to apologize - I appreciate any and all comments. The contrast between a destructive war and a slow-motion economic decline lasting decade(s) is fascinating to me.
And thanks for sharing the anecdote - provides a really interesting perspective to things. Glad you can still see fine. It's funny - vibrancy is a prominent element in all of this, but I never thought about the possibility of things being too vibrant. As for associating nostalgia with vibrancy - this won't be the last time that theme appears.
Left most of my thoughts on Chapter 17, but really - this was a great read. Thelian and Chika were a great duo and I like how we gradually learned more about her as time went on. Great side characters too - Thundrakar and Thelian's dad are still my favorites. Regarding the themes, I thought you nicely balanced accepting Chika for who she is / Chika adapting to the world she's in. Thanks for posting this.

Daisuke's an interesting guy. That whole scene was inspired by a real life anecdote described by Alan Booth in his The Roads to Sata, which was a major inspiration behind this story.
And the otaku pilgrimage would've been a great idea - the Lucky Star shrine comes to mind (and is on the ever-growing list of places I want to see)

Glad you enjoyed it so much! I love it when there's no stakes and the characters just talk it out
You'll have to let me know your prediction. And haven't seen the PNW in person yet but it's certainly on the list
Thanks! And halfway to it at least lol
Thanks! Wasn't quite sure how to handle Ume at first so I'm glad people are liking the direction things took
Hopefully she comes around again

Thank you! Credit to the guy in the 1880s who drew it
