I remember you had a knack for looking at the names and wondering about their meaning, which I appreciate cuz I struggled doing research LOL

Chihara Ouka = (Thousand Fields) (Cherry Blossom)

Kinoshita Kazuha = (Under the Tree) (Ten Thousand Leaves)

Thought it was a nice little play to connect their names, especially when they meet up under a cherry blossom tree.

Also, the title "Kinoshita at Midnight" translates to "Under the Tree at Midnight", which I thought was pretty cool.

I've made subtle edits to this chapter, adding short tags and cues to insinuate who's talking.

Something I like to do when only two people are talking is to use one instance of "I said/she said". By then, it becomes apparent that the next dialogue is the other person speaking.

Another thing is using actions as a cue for the next dialogue.

For example: "With a sigh, I lowered the pen onto the desk with an audible tap." Succeeding it with a dialogue would implicate Kazuha (MC) as the speaker.

Let me know if it works! Hopefully, it's a little bit easier... 😅

Oh nooo, damn... Yeah, I've been teetering away from writing excessive tags such as "I said, he said, etc" because it can get cluttered very fast, but maybe I should reconsider that. At the very least, I'm gonna skim through these initial chapters, since, as you said, it's easy to get lost on who's speaking in a new story. Thanks for the feedback! Super appreciate it.

Super appreciate you, and thank you for sticking till the end! And yeah, I had a couple of ideas on how I would end this novel (One of them was just leaving it off at the last chapter, but that didn't feel complete). Thought I'd instead give some closure to, not only the reader, but also Yue and Koga, who I kind of attributed to being "readers" — or maybe "spectator" is the right word — just being within the story itself. Give the readers, including Yue and Koga, some closure.
