This seems to have potential, however I'm going to be honest and don't mean to come across as harsh, this chapter was very confusing for me to read. Had no idea what was going on for most of it. It was *a lot* of happenings going on, aspects introduced, without explanation and scene changes that are quite abrupt (especially the part starting with "the letter came at night"). More clarification was given towards the end, but unfortunately provided a bit too late.
Again, I don't intend to be negative (and maybe other readers weren't confused at all and this is just a "me" issue). I can genuinely imagine this being a solid story and intend to keep reading, but I do believe the current narrative style is harming it.
