Some of this I didn't address immediately because I was effectively writing the answer into the next chapter~
As far as contests, yes, I'm definitely setting them up in some way for the future. It's something I would take more of an anime-inspiration from than games because the game contests are boring as snot and the anime contests are fabulous. I loved them as a kid- some of my favorite episodes, especially in XYZ. I was rooting for Jesse in them, of all people. Zane's arc is probably pretty important in many regards, also.
