Oh no it's me as a preteen except without the depressed cynicism 😂
Some people might say it's unrealistic for kids this young to talk like this, on subjects like this, but yeah I was there as a kid charting out philosophy in my head that would've made my peers scoff, too, so this brings back memories lol

I agree with you there. Long-form chapters are a particular love of mine. It's funny how breaking it up to make cliffhangers is the sort of thing that's always encouraged in writing circles. I get that it's to pump up reader engagement and all, but it still feels sort of cheaty, sometimes. Depending on how it's used, anyway.

I think I remember this little arc being one whole chapter at one point. Might be remembering wrong — I just remember going through the whole thing for no particular reason, out of order lol. But if it was split, I think it was split very well, because I know how this bit ends and I'm still dreading it haha

Honestly same, though, both on the troubles and the tiredness haha (I'd normally spend a lot more time investing in conversations like this. I like talking about the process of writing). I had the same problem with word count and having to cut so much description. More my fault for trying to condense what wanted to a 200k behemoth into a 75k speedrun version. Let's just say I feel you hard on chapters benefiting from more words, heh.
It's crazy that you managed to start it so early in the competition — from what I've read of it, it feels like something that's been simmering a while. Kudos to you for writing and beating it into shape over just a couple months!

They always love their little speils. I feel like these days most of the interaction I get from the internet is with bots who think the art I make myself isn't good enough. They'd be right, but that's what practice is for.
