Finally action! And a really creative one. I loved how visual the fight felt, especially Kaoru’s transformations. After seven chapters of build-up, it felt good to finally see things explode.
Fun thought: since tanuki are also known for using their belly like a drum, I couldn’t help imagining how that could have clashed with a tengu who controls the wind. Sound versus air could’ve been really interesting! 😄
There are just a few things that gave me pause:
Yuame feels very passive during the fight. He panics, wants to act… but never really does. Even something small. Shouting, throwing a stone, distracting the tengu. Would have made him feel more involved instead of just watching Kaoru get beaten.
The fight also felt a bit short. And the tengu gives up surprisingly easily. He was furious, so when he stops chasing them, it feels a bit abrupt. 🙃
