Had a feeling she might have a kid, and well given last chapters cliffhangar - Marie really has had it rough😆😭.
I must say this portion has rather solidified my feeling that you have a depth present for all your characters, but you perhaps play your cards a bit too close - or atleast, you backload too much. Alot of the time when characters have depth over time like the twins and Marine here, the tatcic is often to give them something else upfront. Clint himself is an example of that even, he is a kwl coyboy man - he has a backstory evidently as alluded to most opaquely with the dream sequenece a while back - but until we get to that, he's also carried by simply being really kwl and, well, he's a friggin cowboy!😆😎.
The twins and Marne really lack that I feel. They're pleasent, not unlikeable, but I think my take that Luna is 'just a woman' sort of sums it up - they don't have the strongest personalities or charism, their kinda just, normal personalities you'd expect for a fantasy. I think this explains for me why I prefered the barkeep and doggirl so much more - becuase you knew they'd only be in the first arc, you gave out their backstories almost immediately, and thus as the reader I got their nuance and liked them for it ya know. Where as Sol and Luna I'm only truly starting to 100% like now quite far into the book - which shows they are well thought out characters with good foundations and such😎 - but leaves them as kind of meh for a significant portion of the narrative😆.
Marine is much the same, but as a side character who we have known that long, the impact isn't as bad. I think some more allusion to her husband pre reaching the village, or in the pub pre Blueits attack, would mostly sell her to me.
That was long and ranty, gomen😆 - my point being, good details and backstory all round, I am more sold on the party as a whole now😎👍
