Fair... seems the setup chapter wasn't as clear and detailed as I hoped. But, tbf, the reason Valerr did the insurgency now was one fact - Kairo killed Leela. She ramped up because of her daughter's death. Although, Valerr isn't going to be a genuine grieving mother toward the death, she's still emotional.

Otherwise, it would've been a shadow movement, using Jan and Kairo as political advantage as planned.

Shadow Cabal, wouldn't be shadow cabal if we knew numbers or gathered a sense that they were large. But they've been in the story since Kairo landed on Lyon's lap, always watching and around. No clear indication of numbers but they're there. And involved with the palace, a lot deeper than realize.

Fair on the harem, I left them out since I hoped Valerr's representation would speak for itself. And the fact that there is no waifu by Lyon's side when he's in the throne room, I hoped was subtle enough to spell out, harem isn't close to the prince and his court. Especially, when Valerr has to be greeted in a smaller throne room.

Ye, this story is filled on subtle clues that likely be missed (and I prolly missed adding in or accidentally edited out). The insurgency was a challenge to write in as it required a lot of subtle build up from Chapter 4. And I also wanted to make it sudden happening built on subtly, so it's fair I missed some bits, and it feels undeserved.

All good Mo Tie. Appreciate the comments, really good to see this feedback of the chapters. It's been a long time since having this. Typically, it's all just the bot spams these days.

Harem are actually fighters. You can't be nobles if you can't fight (Lady Bluesteed's challenge). But this has been building up for some time. The chapters before this, though, hinted this would happen. Shadow Cabal are a shadow force, so their numbers weren't made clear but they were capable, being under the Demon King. But this oversight is Lyon's mistake due to his over confidence. A wake up call for him.

Cause and effect: Cause of Leela's death gave the enemy's advantage for an insurgency.

Valerr, let's just say, she lost her daughter and gained a massive opportunity she didn't want to waste. She's been finding a way to take out Lyon for some time. But with Leela's death, she finally has a chance to gather all her maximum supporters and do some serious damage. And she's grown desperate, so far everything she's tried in the shadows hasn't been successful. It's like when you see a moment to seize for great gains. She seized the moment. Because of Leela's death being her great moment to seize, it threw Lyon off his calculations and allowed the insurgency to be actioned.

This was subtly weaved into play since the boys took off to the archives. Though, prolly too subtle.
