Whew!
That was a sweet ending.
So, without spoilers just in case. I would have to say the following.
I usually don’t opt for pure romance stories but fortunately you didn’t write a Hallmark romance. This was a thriller romance with a dash of psychological horror and perspective fiction as well as mystery.
The only criticism I would say was that it was kind of slow in the beginning, for me at least. But about one quarter in it starts to take off with a mystery that, once you think you solved it, you discover new information that flips the board.
Good things? I don’t think I can fit it all in one comment but here are the big three: you were able to get me to identify with the MCs apprehension and mistrust with the other characters. I wasn’t sure if I was coming or going with some of them. I was ride or die for Jiro early on but then things started to crack a bit only to suck me back in.
Second, your pacing, hooks and foreshadowing were excellent mid-story onward. As soon as a certain breakdown happened I couldnt put this down.
Third, incredible implementation of other genres and concepts to keep the story fresh. I was trying to navigate social webs, solve a mystery and “rescue the princess” all in one story.
Phenomenal. I really enjoyed this
