About the only thing that nagged me about this chapter, personally that is, is Sora is getting a bit of a edgelord vibe with a pinch of Gary Stu.

Slapping the wolf boy for instance. I know it’s a common trope but it seems out of pocket for Sora and counter to his more logical approach.

His speech didn’t come off as exactly inspiring either.

So when the beast people decide to join him, right after he slaps one of their kids AND doesn’t exactly sell his position too well. It seemed a little odd.

I think Sora as he has developed so far, would have approached this differently.

Other than that I’m loving the world building. It’s a strangereal both familiar and yet fantastical.

Wanna know something cool if you are writing a survival situation in the future?

If you want to test berries to see if they are possibly edible, squish them and rub the juice and crushed berry on the corner of your mouth.

If it burns, no good. If it doesn’t, possibly safe to eat. The lining along the corner of your mouth is not exact but can simulate your intestinal tract’s reaction to the berries before you eat them.

Keeps you from getting the runs or worse when foraging.

To:Ribal Husein

Our main Kazuo is an interesting chap so far. Full of raw talent but unrefined. With training under the right person, it’s interesting to see just how far he’ll grow. Though I’m not sure any sort of training can help him in the romance department lol.

Which brings me to Setsuna, his squad leader and new mentor/rival? figure. He’s a good foil for Kazuo and a character with confidence and ability.

Lastly Rei is good for comedy. Even though he has personal space issues.

His two squad mates seem interesting. Though I’ll wait a few more chapters to form an opinion.

Essentially I’d say Kazuo is the top one for now. Mostly because we much of the story from his perspective. He’s a reluctant hero and has a lot of potential for growth in his arc.
