Thank you for the thoughtful comment. I've gone and updated all chapters and the draft manuscript with the acute mark.
As far as the contest word count, there's a wide range allowed, 50k to 80k. The story goal is approximately 60,000 words, so there's plenty of extra space if needed. I'm letting the story write itself but do have certain milestones and the ending already sketched out so things don't get lost along the way.
Typically I'm a planner versus a pantser, but am going the way of the pants this time. It's creating a lot of spontaneous things -- both action and humor -- and I think the end results will be more enjoyable for readers.
