Yes, Alice is very naive' in much of how things works and would rely more on Karl as the stories goes on (sometimes vice versa). Next chapter will explore more about this and... possibly a meeting with the Ventaga committee.
The last line is actually a line that doesn't work on previous paragraph. I usually deleted them. Sorry about that. :(
The last line was actually fully intended because this chapter is getting too long and it shouldn't be that way (exceed 6000 words instead of usual 2000-4000). But I still want to give some cold-hard-truth to Alice and Karl whilst simmer it down a bit with a dance between those two at the end of it to show a bond/alliance Fredericka-Vakross are forming.
