What is an Achievement?

The gap between what you want to convey to the reader and what they actually interpret, like the gap in any human communication, can’t always be completely filled. In writing, and in life, you get better at fillling both those gaps, but I think it’s important to understand they’ll always be there, even if you’re the best writer or communicator in the world. And that’s okay. I’ve come to enjoy how different people might picture my stories depending on their experiences. I’d just say to delve as far into your imagination as you can so you can make something you find interesting, then portray it in a way that makes sense to you.

Oh and I think reading this got me out of a minor writing rut so thanks for that lol
This chapter was mostly dialogue, and the vast majority of it was really good dialogue. This old dude has such a well-defined way of speaking that a perfect voice for him instantly emerged in my mind. His stories are well told and just as interesting to the audience as I’m sure they are our protagonist. I do find some of his musings on tropes in literature a little cheesy though. My main question I want to see answered is what exactly we’ll be doing here in this world once everything is explained, some more motivation or urgency would be nice to carry the story along. The writing itself is superb, the plot just needs more gas in my opinion. And that’s not to say I’d even change much of what we’ve seen this far- just that answers should come sooner rather than later, and that seems to be where it’s going anyway. Slow starts are fine, they’ll just risk losing some readers. However, in this case, I’d say that’s the chance of that is significancy decreased due to that very first chapter being so exciting, it’s still one of my favorite parts even with the growing intrigue of this “exploration arc.” Can’t wait for more!

Once again thank you! I too will certainly be looking forward to doing more with these stories, Paraclaus the most likely of all to get something new.

Maybe the education system’s doing something right after all. Guy’s got taste (even if it’s for a taste for blood)

The trampoline piano room is a hilariously terrifying idea, and while I am glad it resides in fiction here, the fact that one could technically be created in reality is unpleasant to think about. I certainly hope to never find myself in one.
You could interpret it as anything. I wrote it based on my experiences with derealization, as a way to show what it feels like. Manifested in a story like this, it is very much akin to either of those things.

I honestly don’t think there’s anything that can’t be used to give us catharsis. We’re just kinda like that I guess

I really wanted to try a story like that but with a slightly more plausible “realistic” AI instead of a truly “supernatural” self-aware being. It was quite fun to write, I took inspiration from the AI chatbots and such of today.
Thanks! No ghosts, Mr. Sagan is just recalling the incident after it happened. The boys are revisiting their elementary school.

Ah yeah, those guys are the worst. I made sure I handled the subject matter with care.
That’s fine, just enjoy the reading! Thanks
Macy’s honest in reflecting on and perhaps even regretting what she’s done- but she did still do it. Maybe the line between sane individuals and psychopaths isn’t so great? Or maybe there’s not even much of a difference at all. At least to Charlotte, circumstance is everything- and anyone is capable of evil.
