I found it a bit hard to follow. Maybe because of a certain lack in description of what is happening, events don't follow one another enough naturally. I found it very odd for a lawyer popping to speak about legacy at the funeral, especially just after the MC collapsed.
The theme of the story is intriguing, I wonder what really happened with Coby. But there doesn't seem to be any impending end of the world. Maybe you did submit this novel to the contest by mistake
