What a beautiful story! I'm so happy I had the chance to read it!
I'll do a small review and give my thoughts, if you don't mind. 🙂
The characters : Meg really played a huge role in being the vessel of both kindness and curiosity that the audience feels as we read through Oriana's tale. Through her eyes we see the beauty and tragedy that the innocent sweetheart had to go through. I'm sure we all wanted to be what she was in the story, but few have the will to be so kind.
Oriana of course gives the story her name, (a beautiful one at that) and is such a wonderful sweet pea that deserved only the finest of things in life. Her very existence seems like the combination of both the best qualities of her parents, kinda like they were both two halves, combined into her. Anyone who'd dare to hurt her honestly would need mental help, as evident by those psychotic children.
Oko was a great father and husband. It was very clear that he did everything in his power to give his child and wife a comfortable life, even in the slums. With how far he pushed himself, it's no wonder he appeared so weak. I definitely see what Miriam saw in him.
And speaking of Miriam, what a strong woman! Her body was frail, but that's probably because her heart took all it's strength.
And now...the little devil children. This kids and anyone who inable them can burn in heck, or get some serious mental help. Not only were they willing to harm an innocent child and burn down her home, but they also wanted to desecrate her mothers grave. Terrible filthy monsters.
As for the setting: the settings were very clear, especially once we get into the little house. Even though it was a tiny box filled with half discarded items and probably didn'tsmell very good, it felt like a home. We got comfortable with it, much more then any of the locations. Very nice.
As for the story: I loved it! It took me on such a twist of emotions, and kept me reading. I like to think that Oriana is learning to be independent, but will live with Meg for a while until they both make it on their own. I can see them being like sisters, or roommates, supporting eachother.
Overall, thank you for writing this! A very lovely work that deserves a lot more attention!
