Finally made it through! And as I normally do, I'd like to leave a little review!
So, as for the characters: Everyone in the story had a nice place, balanced by several activities that stimulated Haru's mind to grow in a postive direction. Grace is clearly the bread winner in that category.
Haru himself had a lot of growth, and he really reached his potential by the end. I think his story had a lot of ups and downs, which kept it interesting. I'm glad he and Kasumi ended up together, because I like her almost as much as him.
Speaking of Kasumi, I think she's the perfect match for Haru. I wouldn't say they compliment eachother in personality, simply because I think Grace does a better job of that, but they definitely just fit together as a couple. As Megu pointed out, they both have very similar qualities when it comes to accepting people.
Now I wanna talk about Grace. I'm so glad she got a happy ending! I read some of your comments regarding Grace's past, and her getting mixed up in yakuza business due to her father is heartbreaking. Just goes to show how dangerous raising a family in that in world is.
But in other ways, she was freed from her mortal cuffs, allowed to live in a place where she can do much more good for people then anyone else. Even with her body gone, she lives on to heal people.
(Btw, really freaked me out when it said that she passed on...but the fake out was short lived thankfully lol)
Grace's doesn't seem to mind living in dreams at all, which makes me think that even if she can't enter the real world, that's not an issue. And really, who could blame her? (I have to wonder if she's immortal, so long as the machines stay running)
And one more thing about her, I always saw her as more of an old friend to Haru then a lover. There's just some people in your life you distinguish in that way, and it was natural that Grace was put in that position.
As for the setting: your descriptions of dreams were fantastic! The story started off with very simple actions in them, but quickly got more complex as Haru grew. I think those dreams are really where the story stands out, and made it feel kinda relaxing at times.
As for the plot: There’s a lot to dissect with this story.
Haru was in a bad place in his life, overwhelmed by loneliness and missing out on many of life's joys.
Grace one day appeared in his dream, not hesitating to prune away the sappy situation Haru fell into.
Haru was prompted to explore reality to make his dreams more vivid, eventually leading to him making friends and a significant other.
At the peek of his joy, Grace was parted from him. He sought the help of his parents, who aided greatly in his search to once more find Grace.
I think the story itself was really easy going up to Grace's disappearance. Then the tension grew, putting me on the edge of my seat.
Even though this last chapter takes place quite a bit in the future, and admittedly is a huge technological jump for their world, it seems really fitting that Haru would go into the neurological field in order to share Grace with others. I think that a talented guy like him definitely made the best of that.
Overall, I think that this story really wrapped up in a nice little bow. Very fun read, and definitely worth the time!
