Honestly, at some point, I want to include fantasy pandas in a story 🐼 maybe make panda-dragon hybrids. Just because I can 😆

Okay, jokes aside, I definitely see your point though, our modern era does have more of emphasis on pursuing hobbies, free time, and relaxation -- far more than generations past!!
Medieval festivals are something Mia has missed out on for years, especially thinking that she might be cursed or haunted by her family. Even though her father meant to protect her, Mia genuinely thought there might be some magical curse over her 😭 (she had her doubts of course, but still!)
She was scared to bring people into her life, because the curse might impact them too. So Mia spent such a long time afraid, and that's why she was so upset at her father. I didn't emphasize this plot point as much in-story (since it's a darker concept, I left it more to implication) but when I think about it that way, her sudden rage honestly seems mild compared to what it could have been 😢
