Hey, how are you? I have to say that for some reason, seeing a comment from you has an almost nostalgic feeling. I know it's been such a short time since the contest ended, but my goodness, it feels like it's been a few years. I don't know, just an impression I had, but I wanted to share it.
When I wrote this story, I honestly didn't have much time, so instead of creating something super inspired or, you know, almost a continuation of the story, as many people did, I just wanted to do something of my own but with a very slight inspiration from the original. For me, at least, spin-offs are only cool when they really push the boundaries of what the story tells, rather than just focusing on what has already worked, in other words, on the original story. So instead of following the slightly more dramatic and dark content, I did the opposite and by dealing with Eros, I intentionally inverted all the concepts of the original story to create almost an opposite version.
The original is a story told by the protagonist, while mine has an impersonal narrator (who is a character but different from the original).
The original story is very personal; mine is something on a global scale.
One is set at night; mine is set only during the day.
I don't know if it's something that people will appreciate when they read it; I even thought maybe they'll find it cheesy, but I was genuinely very happy that you liked what I managed to do.
Don't worry or feel obligated to read what I wrote; I'm also dealing with so many things at college that it's hard to find time to read. I could have read it already, but I want to finish your work with plenty of time and calm to be able to enjoy it and write the review that I've wanted to do from the start. Personally, I already knew that there was no way the judges wouldn't notice how much your work deserved its place in the voting, and I think that even though the other stories are interesting, and I haven't read all of them to the end, the winning spot is already yours. :)
Thank you so much for the support! I saw that you didn't end up writing for this contest, right? I don't know why, but I think the theme didn't really collaborate for you to write, since the original is somewhat a very morbid drama, and the way you write is so heartwarming. It would be interesting to see a new side of you as a writer, but it would still be a bit strange to read something like that considering Love Sorceress.
