This might be the most disturbing thing I’ve ever read. The clues about Kaede’s broken psychology and the fact that she’s not a lover but just obsessed have been present from the start, but I didn’t expect this. Her brutal murder of young Ren and then erasing Ren and Mirea's memories to have the most artificial, bloody happiness was just horrifying. I don’t think any horrific scene could be as disturbing as this happy family picture. I don’t think I’ll be able to shake off the impact of this for a while. Wow, what a book.

I feel like I’ve plummeted from the very top of a roller coaster and crashed straight into the ground. When Kaede explained herself with Medi, I believed her, but Medi’s timeline was off. Honestly, I never saw this coming. That bastard Kaede, talking about bringing Ren’s wife along to be polite, all while saying such gutless things about the woman she had just killed.

A death that turns everything upside down and a psychological breakdown, told as impressively as ever. While my curiosity peaked, I couldn’t help but feel sorry for Ren and Evelyn. Who killed her? I think it might be Kaede, but i'm not sure

Life and Death are Siblings is an incredibly fitting title for twins, one alive and the other who died in the womb. Time passes so quickly in the book that it becomes harder to predict what will happen next.

From what I know of Crime and Punishment, the weight of killing someone is far heavier than it seems in thought. Kaede is already quite an emotional person, I don’t think her psyche could handle it.

I'm saying this just as a suggestion, but I think you could write an entire novel solely about Ren narrating Dietrich's memories. From what I understand, even though they are just mentioned by name, many characters, places, and events have fully designed backstories, and we only see the shadows of them cast inside the cave. I realize that this shows how detailed the novel is, but personally, I would love to read a novel like this. Something focused on Rudolf.

I think the fact that the torturer derives sexual pleasure from it makes the torture even more terrifying for the person who doesn’t want to be in that situation. Trying to remain calm even while experiencing this mix of torture and harassment aligns perfectly with Ren’s willpower, as seen when he stood his ground after being attacked by several hounds. Ren's personality, in a way, reminds me of Guts, a much more human version of him.

n this chapter, Ren’s chances of escaping are, of course, very slim. Yet, despite that, I compared his clinging to a tiny shred of hope, putting his life and pain on the line, to the story of Kumo no Ito, where someone climbs a single spider thread hanging into hell. Ren's spirit is so determined, so unyielding. He doesn't hesitate to give everything for that small glimmer of hope.
