I appreciate it! All it took was...an entire third of the novel...to finally get to the academy lol. Currently going through seeing if I can shave off a couple thousand words.

Glad to hear on the characters! Trying my best to make sure that's the case, though I do think Lucas could stand to be more immediately interesting given his importance throughout the rest of the story. Once his introductory arc is complete, I'll go back and see if I can adjust the prose to make that happen.

Funny you mention that, whenever I'm writing I'll accidentally visualize Nora as Coco from that show even though I never even finished watching the first season (will get to it eventually).

I actually have art for all the major characters already (will it add it to the showcase section when the novel is complete) but Vincent happens to look pretty similar to that black hair guy who shows up half way through the first season of witch hat atelier and is associates with Qifrey. Main differences would be green eyes, more tired looking face and a bit scragglier, a normal witch hat, and a black high collar leather jacket with way too many pockets and straps.

Oh crap, thank you, I didn't realize I accidentally dropped his name once before it was revealed lol, just fixed that right now.

And yeah after I've fixed the pacing / spacing I won't be going back for refinement (other than applying new feedback) until after the story is complete. Just want to make sure I've got those two things fixed though since they're important and the judges start reading entries before the entry period is actually over.

Thanks, I really appreciate it! For what it's worth I think the next arc cranks up the sweetness even higher, particularly the conclusion.

And on refinement yeah been repeatedly going back and applying any feedback I get, everybody's been very helpful. Once I'm done preparing the next chapter or two, I'll be going through and refining the pacing / paragraph spacing for all previous chapters which I think is the final thing I need to do to get the chapters to a point where I'm mostly satisfied.

I didn't necessarily get it from anywhere specific. Basically in either the last contest's rules or this one I saw something about making sure you write in a way that fits the medium / plays to its strengths, so I converted the way the novel was styled (traditional) to whatever vague recollection I had of how light novels were formatted based off the handful I read around a decade ago but I guess back then they translated them differently to be more faithful to how they're formatted in Japanese (as opposed to now where it's closer to traditional novel formatting, which I think is the better way to do it). And when I did whatever quick google search to check I happened to land on a couple results that wrongly confirmed that perception lol probably either referring to older formatting or how the actual japanese formatting is done.

I hadn't really read any web novels until within the last couple weeks when I read a bunch of past Honeyfeed contest winners. Also skimmed some modern light novels for a feel of how things are formatted now, as mentioned steadily going through my chapters and reformatting them to actual modern day light novel style (though I do still feel it's feels different than traditional style, still spreads things out more / uses shorter paragraphs and is more playful with the visual presentation of the writing on the page). Fixed the first few chapters and can hopefully finish fixing the rest within the next week or so. Chapter 12 and onward will be properly formatted right from the start.

Lol I'm not sure it's an answer we'll ever get but I haven't decided whether the pillow actually works or not. I feel like he would have tracked down and bought one already if they did. Then again, they could just be some rare important the cart owner happened to get his hand on, who knows? Maybe the real pillow was the friends we made along the way.
