Glad Roba's ardor is back, I have a feeling it will be relevant in the coming battle. And also Sloth is being setup in a clever way.

Sloth and the effect they have on people makes it feel like a true villain. It seems we are moving from the journey arc to the battle arc which is appropriate. Everyone had their sad backstory and their burden to carry but they still move on and fight which makes them heros, which I think is a beautiful message.

Wow this was some brilliant writing. I really mean it. My favorite chapter so far.

Dain sinking due to his fear, Roba using his own fears and complexes as a tool to make him sink as well to try and save him. And the way to save them isn't some random power of friendship magic but a proper slime sword buyoncy skill that had a proper plant just before that I hadn't realized until it was painted out. This obeys the principle of of "don't introduce new magic in a climax, use a new application of established magic" beautifully.

And well the whole backstory of Dain was moving as well with a proper explanation for his fear of water. Dain is my favorite character.

At first Dain being scared of water was funny but then it turned into dread as he starts to sink. Well written. Here's to hoping Roba can help him

The fight was choreographed well. You can feel their struggle... And the enemy is turning out to be quite a pain.

That was an interesting read, the dynamics between the party are definitely fun and vibrant.

But what I found a little confusion were the many pov shifts. The narration seems to jump between Damian and Arron and in the way if it refers to the characters by name or by reference to their appearance. It makes it read close to an all knowing narrator who jumps into the characters heads sometimes. Not sure if that was intentional.

Hm... The relationship between parents and children is complicated and can take many forms. This is based in part on personal experience and in past on research between relationships between historical noble and royal children and parents. They often be brought up by the servants and long for any chance to interact with their birth parents and earn their approval. Of course it can also lead to rebellion but it depends. In Kit's case I think he has already invested so much of his effort and emotion into his struggle to earn his father's approval that he is afraid to do anything that could jeopardize it. And he also interprets everything his father does in a way that is favorable towards his father. The reasons for it are psychological and it's hard to show this on page without risking over explaining it 🤔
Of course as a writer you can never know if your character are truly realistic, you can only strife to get as close as possible.

Great move bringing the slime cores back. It connects to the whole concept of Karma, do something good and it'll come around to help you.

And well Roba and Jorvain have quite the passionate friendship.

I think introducing a rival group of new characters was a good move. It gives the story a fresh wind. And well a story is always a reflection of the author and I think this chapter shows it especially strongly on the way the characters interact.

Emrys backstory fits her character, it's unsurprising but in a good way. It means you wrote her in a way that her backstory and her personality are aligned.

Also yes that part about singing the duet was funny. I also wonder if Roba has feelings for Emrys? A bit of a crush maybe?

That was a great emotional moment that highlighted their character growth between Roba and Emrys. They each have their own arc not just the main character which is what makes this story work so well.

This chapter was beautiful. The talk, the fae and the image of Roba carrying Jorvain. I hope Roba can keep what he learned here but I have a feeling their struggles aren't at the end yet.
