Viola's back, and I can't help but feel happy about it! It's been so long since we last got to see her! Well, we never saw her being a badass like she was here, so that was a pleasant surprise! It was so enjoyable seeing her combine her medical knowledge with her martial art, but I think where she shone the most was her avoiding causing any actual (permanent or not) damage to Austin and Sage, that really gave her character and philosophy a unique twist!
I still can't believe it's been just half a day since the huge brawl at Lucas' school though. That would mean that these 35 chapters of the main story took place in a single day, right? I remember it was around chapter 16 in the first volume when I pointed something similar out, but man, that is seriously mindblowing.

But really, I can't be more curious about this: What is Viola actually doing at San Desquiciado? I doubt she has no idea what that place is. Assuming she didn't have a clue about it and had no real reason to be there, she would have at least considered fleeing after the whole Austin and Sage incident. This of course leads to the conclusion that there's a significant reason she's there. I'm 100% sure Davis would have started wondering about that too, hadn't she called out his name and taken him out of his mini-depression. Whatever the case, I'm dying to find out even the slightest clue!

Poor ruffians though, they were just trying to tell us what was really going on but you offed them before they could. That was merciless, man xD
Still, this might seem like a huge stretch, but San Desquiciado having things like Doom Lagoon could parallel how the district is on a world of its own; a completely otherworldly experience compared to the rest of Cameron's Feint... Subtle things like these make me want to smash more than one of the react buttons! (Starting to miss the heart button already...)

Anyway, I really hope we'll be seeing the Craneworks Industries branch soon enough!

    Chapter:33

I'm confident that you made the right call by splitting the chapter in 2 parts. There was a clear distinction between them (the first part focuses more on the blond man, while this one on Davis), which helped understand each one better.

And of course, that leads me to Davis. This was probably the right amount of exposition he needed to become not only a really interesting character, but also someone who is still shrouded in enough mystery to make him much deeper and intriguing (I'd say he's rivaling Lucas and Rio on that right now!). I'm glad we're getting to know him better, to be honest. I mentioned in the previous chapter that his character is starting to make sense, but that still left out his personal philosophy and also the past his parents don't know about. That moral grey line was probably the most remarkable part of this chapter. We still don't know anything about what happened to lead him to kill, but I feel like his reasoning might be justified if it's for a situation similar to Lucas'.

Enough speculation though, please let me fanboy for a moment: Hot damn was Davis such a badass when he fought off the hooligans! I expected him to have some expertise with guns, but swords too? And he used a flash grenade too! Man, I feel like there's a lot of history behind this versatility Davis has mastered!

On another note, I really loved the detail about the guys' kinship. You could have easily painted them evil just because they work for Logen, but that small detail really hit when Kevin fell to the ground, especially after having seen him stay last to pray for Bruno and Brody. What a bro, I'll miss the guy.

And finally, Fenris. I'd say "long time no see", and I know it's been 2 chapters since we last saw him, but it actually felt like a long time! I really like how he doesn't speak at all, yet you manage to make his character seem so terrifying and awe-inducing with his actions, hats off to that!

And Wolfsbane undeniably looks amazing the way you described it! I have a feeling a Tokusatsu I watched when I was a kid had a sword with a similar design, but I can't recall where it was from... Man do I feel old now lol
Anyway, I loved how you went into all that detail about how it works! I might not like gore the least, but I know fear when I feel it, and that detail on where it hit and the entire aftermath really didn't help it go away...
And now you're making me worry about Zach and Scott, and also Fenris' laws... This novel is taking a toll on me, I swear xD

Jokes aside, I really hope we're getting more of this variety later on! I noticed it in the previous couple chapters too, but the scenes now have a more cinematic flow than before! Of course, this matter is completely subjective, and the first volume had a more linear story to tell, but visiting those events happening simultaneously every so often makes them flow much better AND keep the tension up! Bravo for that, I think you're doing it great!

By the way, if you don't mind me asking, how long are both parts combined? They certainly seemed lengthier than previous chapters (which isn't a bad thing here, they were both really enjoyable!), but I have a feeling you really pushed the character limit to its limits with both of them xD

    Chapter:32

    Sep 20, 2019

Of course a place like San Desquiciado would be divided into turfs! What's more intriguing than that is the role of the Tyrants. Usually, the leader is just the one that has the highest authority in the gang. The Tyrants, on the other hand, are far more revered and worshiped than that, like they're actual kings of their territory.

Speaking of the Tyrants, Xavion and Mary Glow (awesome names, by the way) were really interesting additions. Their exchanges seemed more like a parody of those in gang stories, which was amusing to read and made me chuckle a few times, but I'm curious if they'll both play a major role later on, let alone if the turf war will be resolved in some way. It's too early to make wild guesses like these, but only you and the future know what this volume holds!

I was curious about that element you mentioned in your previous comment, but it came to me as soon as Mary Glow said it. Man, I'm so glad we're finally getting to meet her! Her part in this chapter was so fun to read through, can't wait to see more of her!!

As for Xavion, his dark energy in particular caught my eye here. He claims he's not a Renegade, so if that really is true, then that would mean there's some form of magic in this world, right? Regardless, both scenarios have some pretty interesting implications for future developments!

On another note, I wonder if Logen is actually part of one of 4 gangs. I'm sure he has dozens of underlings, so he would definitely need some base of operations in the district. Assuming that every inch of it is claimed territory by the Tyrants, it would fall right into somebody's turf.

I really love the blond guy even more than before. His determination and willpower are admirable, and on top of that, he actually managed to escape death twice so far AND killed two of his pursuers (technically). If that doesn't make him amazing, I don't know what will xD
The gauntlet remains as mysterious as he does, though. Even after seeing one of its abilities, I still believe we haven't seen what it can really do.

I really want to talk about Davis though. Sure, his first volume version was likable and a silly (in a good way) comedy relief, but I feel like his character and his actions are getting clearer now that we're delving into his past. Of course he would be overjoyed about otaku culture or alcohol or anything his parents wouldn't approve of, since these were probably his only liberation from their helicopter parenting. But most of all, it makes sense why he wants to protect Lucas so much from a Renegade, when their friendship is one of those few things he managed to forge without his parents cussing him about it.
Oh man, I'm getting really depressed from his situation...

PS: I think I noticed something here. Bruno, who belongs (well, belonged) to a gang, chases after a blond guy... This is the taste of a Part 5 reference, Giornー Jio! xD

    Chapter:31

    Sep 13, 2019

I think you did an amazing job fleshing out San Desquiciado, the descriptions were really immersive and colorful. Not only that, it actually feels like a real-life district with the variety you gave it! Not the most law-abiding district on Earth, that's for sure, but that in itself is pretty realistic to read about! Perhaps starting out from here was a great way to give this second volume its own identity AND create the appropriate atmosphere for it!

Still, there's all those questions that've been brought up we need to keep an eye on: First one is the gauntlet. I have a feeling it will play a huge role in this volume, mostly because you went into enough detail about it that it can't possibly be a one-off thing.

Then there's Logen and his gang and San Desquiciado in general. It's hard to theorize what their purpose actually is just from this chapter, or even if they're connected to Fenris in some way, but what I'm sure of is that they'll eventually run into Lucas and Rio. But let me say this, and please forgive the language, but man is Logen a prick. I'm sure Lucas and Rio will be just as annoyed with his attitude when they interact with him, and surely he will get on their nerves as soon as the chance comes up lol. (Btw, there's a point where you misspelled Logen as "Logan", right before the hooligan died.)

There's also Davis, who seems like he's going to have a much more prominent role this time. But man, I didn't expect him to feel so different than usual. I mean, we already saw another side of him in the 1st volume's epilogue, but I'm getting pretty worried about him. He justifyingly sees Rio as a threat and I really want to find out why she left a mark on him (pun definitely not intended), but I have a feeling things won't end well for the poor guy... I told you, don't make us choose sides if it comes to Lucas VS Davis xD

And finally, that last line. I think that's what really started all my speculations. Logen clearly hates even hearing Lucas' name, so maybe he has a personal grudge against him? And if he does, I can't think of any other place (based on what we know so far) than the Underground Arena for something like that. It's been so long since the Underground Arena was last mentioned, so I'd love to see it come back! For the blond man, on the other hand, only half of his name was the trigger for him, probably his last name, so could his reaction be related to the Thorne family? We never really got a background on them though, did we? Makes it all the more interesting if we get to learn anything new about Lucas' past!

All in all though, let me say that this was an absolutely breathtaking read. Not just enjoyment-wise; San Desquiciado, the new characters, all the questions...I think you did a stellar job on all of them! You've really upped your game with your writing since the first ever chapter and it really shows how much effort and experience you're pouring into the story, but this chapter was in a whole different league! Keep it up, man, I hope this volume blows us away even more than the first one!!

    Chapter:30

    Sep 08, 2019

I would be lying if I said I didn't expect Lucas or Davis to show up in the prologue in one way or another (mostly Davis though, considering how Volume 1 ended). Nevertheless, this was a pretty interesting way to start off the new volume and there were so many things in this prologue that took me back and aback!

First and foremost, the history teacher: I knew it! xD
I've been waiting for the grand reveal, but I never expected it to be so close! Really curious to see what kind of role he'll have!

Fenris' silence and vigilance were really intriguing. He could have attacked Rio or have fled to safety, but he stayed to listen to her. He seemed quite fixated on Lucas too right here, and I remember that he was outside his school when the huge brawl happened, so perhaps he was observing him? (Correct me if I forgot anything or got something wrong)

Rio never fails to make the scene even more entertaining either! It was really refreshing to see her right from the get-go, but I think her thoughts on Lucas stole the spotlight here! If I recall correctly, it has only been a couple days since they first met, right? It's kind of easy to tell that she's grown really close to him and that she's still fascinated by him.
Man, I just realized just how much I miss Lucas. Really wish to see him back until I catch up!

All in all, this prologue was a really interesting start! I'm sure the first chapter is going to offer more insight into the overall plot, but you already got me hooked!

And before I forget, congrats on your second volume and best of luck for it! There's no doubt the first one was phenomenally fantastic, and I'm 100% sure this volume will be just as enjoyable, and hopefully even more than the first! Really sorry for falling so far behind, but here's to hoping I'll be boarding the caught-up train soon enough! xD

I Can Hear Your Thoughts, but it's not like I'm Telling You or Anything!
    Chapter:14

    Sep 15, 2018

I think it's safe to assume that we'd all love a lively study group like this that would make difficult subjects fun to understand! (I know I would xD)

Yumeha's parents were actually 2 characters I really wanted to write about, even if it was just a short introduction to them! I'm glad that you liked that! While Yumeha bringing a boy home did spark some intrigue in Rokuro, there's another reason behind it that was implied in the second chapter (it was just one line though xD). We'll get deeper into that in the next few chapters! On the topic of her parents, Kansai-ben has been, is, and will always be something I just adore so much, so I'm really glad you enjoyed that as well! Rest assured that we'll be getting more of it later on!

Shigenobu might have it rough once more complex exercises and harder material knock on his door (̶c̶o̶u̶g̶h̶b̶l̶o̶o̶d̶y̶l̶i̶m̶i̶t̶s̶c̶o̶u̶g̶h̶)̶, so testing how far his cunningness can go sounds like a good idea for a chapter on him xD

I feel bad for Saiki when he has all these powers though, and he has A LOT. I took a quick look at what the wiki had to say about that, and it seems he can control his powers partly with his limiter (Correct me if I'm wrong, it was a *really* quick look lol), but I still find it too much. For a comedy, it's got quite the dark side to it lmao
My interest in Saiki has increased once more, let alone the similarities between him and Taichi. I swear I'm not doing this on purpose xD

Thanks for catching up and commenting!

I Can Hear Your Thoughts, but it's not like I'm Telling You or Anything!
    Chapter:13

    Sep 09, 2018

Oh man, you have no idea how glad I am that this is finally back! It's been almost a year since I first got to read it and it was heartbreaking to see no updates from it for so long, but my hopes to see this make a comeback came true, didn't they xD

So T-Corp is a superpower nurturing facility of some sort? I know the Elite Five gave Yoshiki his mind-reading power, but back in chapter 4 (I think?) you mentioned "children that had been mutated", so I was wondering if by that you meant that they underwent the same procedure as Yoshiki or if that mutation had happened to them before they went to T-Corp (or it could be *because* of their mutations that they went there in the first place)

Apart from that, Ken and Akira have captured my interest from the entirety of the Elite Five. Akira gives off a weird vibe that we shouldn't trust him a lot, I really don't know why though xD
Ken on the other hand seems really promising as a character now more than before. He has the potential to be someone (or even the one) Yoshiki genuinely looks up to, in a way that he will actually push Yoshiki forward when he needs and has to, to motivate him when he is in dire need of encouragement; a father-like figure, you could say.

What I can say for sure is that your writing has improved a lot. I remember chapter 3 taking a huge leap for improvement, but following that, it's been getting steadily better! The descriptions have been getting clearer and more elaborate, and Yoshiki's inner thoughts really help get into his mindset, wonder about the deeper questions that are posed, like he does. The psychological element just works like a charm for his personality. His mind-reading will definitely give a lot more depth to his character to explore, and might as well develop him!

Speaking of his mind-reading, using it in the fight with Nascar actually was a pretty good demonstration of how not only he's starting to slowly control what he wants to read (compared to when he just collapsed from hearing the Elite Five's thoughts at the same time), but also how useful it might prove later for him in larger-scale events!

All in all, I'm just so excited to read this again! The first three chapters were really interesting and got me hooked, and that hasn't changed for the new chapters as well! Keep up the great work man, I'm looking forward to everything you'll be giving us!
