Alright I finally re-read it and refreshed my memory. I’m really enjoying it.

I think a tiny (ok, not really… it kinda reminded me why I found it hard to get through way back then) gripe I have is that it seems there are a lot of points where periods or em dashes need to be used, but instead of those marks, there are commas. It makes the narration stilted at points and forces me to re-read sentences at times or pause unnaturally. If you fix that flow problem, though, I think it’s brilliant.
