Thanks for reading! And in this case, the train lurched because the entire bridge collapsed. A decent amount of trains and infrastructure that weren't retrofitted after the kobe 1995 earthquake experienced some setbacks during the 2011 earthquake. But I'd be scared to be on any bridge when a large earthquake hits 😩

Oh yeah, the story sorta drip feeds the cultural differences between both worlds as the story goes on. I kind of want the novel to touch on the topic of economics too since that's my jam
Kamen Rider? I know about it, but the main thing that comes to mind for me is One Piece when I think of mirror worlds 😄

Geez that's a lot of em dashes lol. And the jumping from different character to character was a little jarring for an opening chapter
But overall I like the prose. Feels really refined, crisp. And right down the middle to avoid purple prose or white room syndrome
I'll check out more of the story if I have time

Oh yeah no problem. Particularly, I'm a big fan of the zombie genre, but any post-apocalyptic setting is fine too haha
Gabe sounds like he has a lot on his plate. In regard to the local AI on his phone though, I did suspect that might be the case. But with today's tech, modern cell phones shouldn't have nearly enough processing power to run an AI locally. Most AI's function through cloud services where a server handles the workload. However, I gotta acknowledge this story takes place in the 2040's. Maybe cell phones are just much more powerful in this world by then. So it's not hard to suspend my disbelief
I'm reminded when I had a beta reader get ultra nitpicky on me when he read that I put a restroom in a local Japanese train since those don't usually have restrooms. But in my head I'm thinking -- this is an alternative, totalitarian Japan one hundred years in the future, and you can't suspend your disbelief enough to imagine they might have slightly different trains by then?
So that's to say I am nitpicky, but not as much as some of these other guys 😆I'm mostly just the dude at parties with lots of useless trivia lol
