Thank you so much for reading and commenting! I was so overwhelmed (and happy!) when I saw my notifications. Yes, I originally started with the premise of "guy gets isekai'd by a cute elf girl but doesn't speak her language" but with a more action-y plot where they go and try to kill the Demon King. But I didn't think it fit the contest prompt, so after a lot of reworking the outline I arrived at this story. It's the first time I changed a story so drastically - it's outside of my comfort zone but I'm learning a lot.

I've found out that drafting and publishing at the same time blocks me pretty badly, so I'll focus on actually writing the story before I continue to post here (with as much editing as the contest timeline will allow me). Thank you! Yeah, this was what I was afraid of. There will be a summary at the beginning of the next chapter to explain, but I totally get that it hasn't been done well. Unfortunately, under the contest time constraints, I doubt I can take the time to fix it right now. I'll focus on getting the story finished and hopefully by then, I have a better idea on how to present this chapter. Until then I just have to hope it doesn't deter tol many readers. The % of niederdeutsch dialogue will drastically decrease in the upcming chapters though as Leo gets the hang of the language, that much I can already promise.
