The right-aligned text threw me off. I personally like the italicized style, though. Also, while it's identified as "his mind", it stays unclear whether it's just a normal thought or something akin to a different personality/identity (idk my first hypothesis was that it might be a remnant of Shinji separate in his mind) but I think that depends on what you're actually planning on doing with it!

Thank you for this story, really. I'm still a little too close to it to really get my thoughts in order but now I can really say that it's my favorite story of yours so far. Everything just felt... right, I guess? And the last three chapters were just perfect. I've still got all these emotions swirling inside of me. I can't really say more, but I'm so glad I got to read this story!

I honestly adore how your cast composition usually is a bit rough around the edges, with them pushing and pulling each other, and here I noticed it even more than in the stories before. It's something I want to try out more for myself now, so I'm doubly glad to read it right now haha. And I can't quite describe it, but here the different "groups" feel both really distinctive but also cohesive (? I really hope that's the right word, fitting well together). Like it's one big painting but I can make out the individual paintstrokes.

You know I've loved your other stories as well, but I have to say this cast of characters is my favorite so far. The atmosphere you create with the writing voice and world-building is enchanting as well. I'm always impressed by how much you're able to draw out of a story already in the contest's short timeframe!
