Nifty start! I think you really nailed the feeling of loneliness here, Keiichi seems like a pretty miserable kid. You did a good job setting up that there's something wrong with him without explicitly talking about it. Also, despite the fact that the entire chapter takes place in a bed, there's a nice sense of pace and it's neat to see that we're moving right into the game world!
