To be fair, it is a VERY good circle.
Since this is a bit of a love letter to anime, each POV loosely represents a different genre. Fuumi is slice of life school club; Sumiko is action shonen; Kouji is battle academy; Haruki is delinquents. I don't know what genre to call it, but Hayashi is that particular SNAFU, Monogatari kind of deal, along with some inspiration from Supersession's works on this site. Writing this was a bit of a challenge, since I needed to be "clever" with the dialogue and narration, along with incorporating certain undertones I don't normally use.
Personally don't understand the foot fetish either, but anything for a good story and to capture that anime feeling! Never thought I'd be discussing foot fetishes on a website dedicated to amateur stories influenced by Japanese cartoons either, but here we are.
