Heh; you'll get away with the text, but the illustrations? You are indeed playing with fire there (no pun intended) 😅 Hihara at least remains true to herself, even in the afterlife 🙃

Mercifully, she does a fairly good job of reining that imagination in and keeping it from running too wild in the upcoming main story :)

That said, it was pretty satisfying to let that imagination run free for a bit and surprisingly fun writing a fantasy piece, though I've never been particularly big on Halloween (I may have been spurred on by MJ's "Thriller") 😌

I hope it's been as fun to read as it was to write :3

I couldn't think of an explanation as to why three characters' names suddenly changed between everything published on HF so far and current writing/ recent illustrations, so decided to simply opt for an attempted comedic exposing of the truth 🙃

The already strange rules concerning the intermediate land are now in tatters though 😅😭

It's another "special" rush job :((( I wish the idea the came to me earlier in the week, so that I could research and cover the various areas of influence in greater depth (I imagine Kasumi, Aki and Lotus aren't best pleased my handling of music here) rather than going at it two hours past the deadline and relying on HF's lagging timezone 😆

I did learn a lot in a short space of time though and got to further practise writing with more consideration for the gender identity element of the characters, rather than their sexuality, so I'm not too disappointed 🤓

I still don't understand that much on the politics, but I guess the mystery element in itself is intriguing :)

Am I right in presuming that the tap on Ichika's shoulder came three days after?

Welcome back :) I hope the time away went well ☺️

I find myself faced with the dilemma of how to write a military series without it being an endless series of armed conflicts which don't really do much to develop personalities. That said, writing the more human side of military service was fun, until reality came along with a thoroughly depressing similar scenario to destroy my soul ':/

I suspect the next couple of chapters will be conflict-free as well (one of which won't focus on Satsuki X Momo 😉)

Here's hoping the throwing of shade at dog-lovers will be forgiven (though the main series is quite pro-feline) 😆

Given that there was a commercial attempt earlier in the week which resulted in the lander plummeting into the Pacific Ocean following a propulsion malfunction, the SLIM moon landing is no small feat indeed :)

I'm glad you enjoyed it :) The Alpha Pair getting their day in the sun and the main story getting a sort of prequel. Given how mysterious they end up in the main series, it felt like a good side story to have and an opportunity to explore a different setting and relationship dynamic (and throw in a bunch more lesser-known weapons) 😊

Funnily enough, aside from the Tsubaki x Hikari chapter, these side story chapters have all been written in a relative rush, while on holiday 😅 That said, they all came around the time or after I'd finished writing the main story. Following more restrained/ disciplined combat philosophy, writing exclusively first-person thanks to not having to worry about four characters has been a nice change :)

Naoka is a very sore topic (partly explaining why she's hardly mentioned in the main series); despite how short it is, this chapter was easily one of the most soul-destroying that I've written thus far ':/

Will Midori ever calm down in Hikari's presence? Probably not 😅

Thank you! It's good to know that at least one person made it to the end, heh That and it's good to know that Team (maybe not so?) Useless managed to redeem themselves before the end 😄

I left the bonus gallery at the end as a little treat, for things which couldn't naturally fit into the story, either because they were support pieces or the writing perspective was wrong (the Tsubaki & Hikari moment for example).

There may or may not be clues as to what (if anything) comes next lying around on Honeyfeed; you'll probably find them soon while visiting the side series :)

It would have been a lot harder a chapter and almost certainly not include the heroines getting into airborne operations :( I don't think Hikari has much piloting experience and the other two have none, heh

There was another factor that influenced the direction for the last few chapters of the story, which is revealed in chapter 25 (or in the Women's World Cup 2023 special chapter from the side series 😅) 🤐

I don't aim for full-blown realism; Sci-Fi in essence deviates from reality by design, so I aimed for about 69% on the realistic scale (where 100% is our reality) :) if it involves a mechanical system/ vehicle, be it land, air or whatever turns up in the next chapter, I can't help myself but dive into the performance specs and abilities 😅🤓

I've basically made the case for why mechanical/ design engineers should stick to their day jobs 😄

In the original story outline, Captain Hibara was actually fated to die in this chapter (._. )'

Her test reader popularity, implications for things going forward (especially for Kasumi) when I came to write this chapter and my learning that breaking up a yuri couple is conventionally a big no-no for the genre led to a change in course :)

Well, nobody can complain that the antagonists are impotent and/ or pushovers 😅
