Thanks for reading the entire story, Taylor! i’m slowly making my way through yours, and balancing the new contest entries, but your comments have given me something nice to read even beyond the deadline, so I really appreciate it.
Barnes probably *is* somewhere in hell, eating dog poop, as is his eternal reward for being a grade-A twit. But someone had to play the role of the guy who has no tragic backstory, nor redeeming qualities. I’m glad you enjoyed hating him as much as I did, and you liked the story in general. Jiro’s sacrifice will go down in history, and Yuna/Shizuka will never be alone again, as Aki so kindly put it.
I wrote Memoria out of my own deep existentialism, but also out of my fascination for the future of brain mapping and the potential logistics behind a digital afterlife. I’m the kind of guy who sees a cautionary tale, and wants to act upon it anyway. But in this case I WROTE the tale, go figure.
