Now that you mention it, I can definitely see what you mean. In Shield Hero, in particular, while you can probably point out some parallels, each of the heroes is largely the same outside the main character. They do whatever the state tells them to do no questions asked, and they don’t stop to think about the consequences of their actions. Main character is left to clean up their messes, etc.

It makes it pretty satisfying when the main character, Naofumi, despite not having an attack weapon still shows them up. I see that in our working class British chap, Arch, too. Makes me want to root for him.

Been awhile since I dropped in! I love Rose’s boundless support and optimism. That guard dialogue reminded of the first time you rock up to Whiterun in Skyrim 😆 I always tell them I have news out of Helgen, because I guessed they wouldn’t care much for Riverwood.

I liked the note that Haruma had given up on learning new skills, because he had figured it would all just go wrong anyways. Sparring against Wymond has proven two things to him:

1. That he still has room to get stronger if he wants to be able to protect his newfound friends.
2. Controlling his broken abilities might not be as impossible as he’s made it out to be in his head.
