Instead of Rollslop, Felix and Prim invented piggyback hax. 😆 It’s basically like Rudeus demon eye of future sight, but it takes a little more coordination to use. I like to imagine Prim like a bazooka attached to Felix’s back like he’s a tank.

Sure thing! The best way I could answer it is with a passage from chapter 10:

“A council of world leaders met to discuss the future of these lands, with a representative from every nation in attendance.” Dante continued, putting his back to the others. “Some wanted limits on when and how you could be deployed, while others suggested, unthinkably… that you be disposed of permanently.”

“You mean…?”

“To protect the peace, or their own interests perhaps, the very people you saved suggested killing you so that you couldn’t become a problem later.” Dante closed his eyes. “Allies and adversaries both.”

He wasn’t lying here, I’ll reveal, or at least he told part of the truth. However, since the exile was supposed to be in lieu of an execution, the fact that Felix is roaming free once again creates a huge political dilemma for Dante to handle now. The king suggested prison specifically because he *didn’t* want to have to kill Felix, but his escape left him with no choice, and once Dante learned he had lost his memories it made him an easy target for the Black Court. So, you’re pretty close to the answer, but Dante is a little complicated in general so his actions ≠ feelings at times, especially when a potential war is on the table.

Anyway, thanks for reading all the way through! 😁 I’m glad you liked Felix and Rambo Kite’s adventures, and I look forward to catching the conclusion of Demon Queen as well.

A tavern brawl, indeed 👊 It made me a little sad to see Lancelot extinguished like that, but I was satisfying in way because of how realistic it was. Beneath the magic enhancements and all the heroic fanfare and lore, they’re both just a couple of humans. And humans are pretty fragile…

Thanks for reading, George, and for giving me your honest critique! 🫡 Honestly, it was around the 50k mark that I figured I’d have to start attempting to land the story in a place I could be comfortable with. It’s a balancing act, of course, leaving enough unresolved threads to facilitate a continuation—while still getting across the core thesis of the story. Since this is Felix’s tale instead of the king’s, the betrayal was always secondary to his journey to redsicover what being a hero means to him. I would suggest the overall theme is less about what has been lost (the past) and more about what they can do in the present. The lesson Kite teaches Felix, and then he turns around and repeats to Elora like a game of telephone 😂 In any case, I’m really glad you enjoyed it, and you can expect more adventures from Felix and his friends in the—hopefully near—future. 🪓
