If you mean in this story, yes, it was first time. He was until now known as just a mercenary who beat up Shujinko and tried to pick up Makiko for some fun. Also, I would not have my hopes for Makiko just yet. Let's just say, I am not so kind in my stories.

Hmmm, this sounds suspicious. Why all of a sudden Silas would turn into a good guy obeying the law and bringing murder to justice. He sounds in this chapter like a good detective. Unless this Ivy is fake or they in another made up world. Maybe Silas behind all of it. I mean he can do lots of things with that pen. If he can insta change places with a swipe of his pen, then making fake Ivy and film some fake footage would be easy. Or was it time for Ivy to leave the story?

You are almost right, almost guessed it right, but in this story only the main character has unbreakable plot armor, which of course he will lose it a bit later in the story. Right after he beats Adam, getting in replace one chance at saving the world.

At the beginning of the story Kaiju was just pretending to be nice and caring, working to make a cure. Now he is showing his true self, also being slowly consumed by crystallization really gets his mind spinning out of control. Basically, he is going nuts, slowly.
