I was gonna wait till I finished the story to give a review, but this chapter hit all the right notes. How could I wait?
So far your story has been Phenomenal for two major reasons. The first being its gimmick of the main character being isekai'd into a rock, and the second is the incredible moral and philosophical subjects brought up in it.
It's easy to imagine that a simple rock would have the most boring perspective, but that's the point. Imagine just sitting in one place all day and night, year after year. A rock would see a lot of things come and go, and yet never change itself.
It would see good, it would see bad and it would see ugly. All those things can happen in a single day. Generations of children growing to be old, watching traditions go on or change with the times. Or just simply watching new life rise up every spring, enjoying the crisp smell of fresh flowers.
Or watching a dragon suddenly swim out of the depths of a lake. All a rock can do is observe, unable to influence anything itself.
I was really broken-hearted with the dragons fate. From anyone's perspective they'd be afraid of such a massive monster, but to those of us who sat and watched it try and fly, play around in the water, even cry...it was a tragedy. I do believe it was a poor child who met an untimely demise on Earth, only to once again find the same fate.
The hero treated the dragon as if it were some sort of video game boss. If you've ever seen the Shield Hero series, a big theme is that people don't take these fantasy worlds serious. But the reality is that they usually end up making lives worse due to how we play video games, their just to ignorant to see it. How often after we defeat the dragon do we get the end credits and leave that world for good? What happens to all those people when the player never returns?
I think what this story has done for me so far is make me think more about respecting both the natrual world, and people within it too. We need to think about how our actions might have big consequences on others, even if it seems silly.
We all can be that rock, and we all can be that hero. Both are tragic for their own reasons, but what if the personalities switched for a day? A hero with a cautious heart for the world around him, and an arrogant rock who needs humbling. It makes me appreciate how I can still do things in life.
I have to say that you're story has given me a very new perspective on the world. (Sorry for the long write up, but I needed to give this review early! And expect another one like this when I finish the whole story
