Ah I see.
I was aware of the old physics concept of the luminiferous ether, thats why I mostly associated it with light. I am not saying my use of it as a fifth wildcard element was more or less valid than yours. I was just curious since I didn't understand what it did in the context of your story.
If you plan to elaborate it later on, that is fine. I don't hate info/exposition dumps, but yeah, it makes sense that she wouldn't have that information.
Personally, I might have maybe tried to use another character or the voice of the narrator to maybe give a hint.
