Yeah, just being really high up definite two I don’t work unless they’re literally in space. Acceleration due to gravity scales with the inverse square of the distance from the core, meaning you’d have to be twice the distance from the core as the surface is, or about 6000km above ground. The ISS is only about 400km up and experiences about 90% of our gravity.
I guess you could just write it off with a handwavey weird science explanation but it’s a pretty big one. I imagine lower gravity would also mean lower air pressure to a degree, which itself causes a whole bunch of issues

That feels like a huge thing to just throw in there, especially as that’s a waaaay bigger technological advancement than pretty much anything else mentioned thus far. Is there an explanation for how that works? An opposite force of a smaller magnitude so that the resultant force is decreased?

I don’t wanna seem nitpicky, I know not everything needs a scientific answer, that just seems like a really big thing to just casually slip into the middle of a chapter
