While some pieces of this chapter feel like they could further evaluate the mc's conflicting emotions between his townspeople's decision and his desire to do waht's right, I won't let that distract from what you have here, and that's a good start. While some parts feel rushed, it feels like you have everything you need to build into an honest to god good adventure story, and I'm greatly intrigued where you take it.
