And with that, we've reached the end of season 1 of En Passant Grandmaster. Season 2: The Fallen Maestro will start in the coming weeks. As a teaser, I've uploaded the cover for the arc. One thing I would recommend is rereading chapter 1 (only if you read it before this date) since I added some characters that will be relevant in season 2. Thanks to everyone that's read and liked the series thus far, I promise there is plenty more crazy chess battles to come in Fallen Maestro.

Note: I made some major edits to this chapter. There is now more context to the WWCF card, plus Mimoko's family makes their debut here instead of in Season 2 like I originally planned. The chess game is largely the same, though I ended up changing Okisato's 11th move from Kf1 to Ke2 since the former would have resulted in Inojin having a chance at victory while this new move seals his defeat after he captures the rook at a1 and promotes his pawn to a queen. Believe it or not, a victory for Okisato was still garuenteed even with the original Kf1 followed by the bxa1=Q move. However, it wouldn't have been an en passant checkmate, so the move needed to be changed in order to prevent Inojin from having a shot at victory.

The principal is a very pathetic man. He's actually a 1-dan shogi player, but only played chess at Gyro's insistence. He was taught by Gyro, but did not take his teachings to heart.
Now that he's been beaten, the chess club is good to go, for now at least.
As for Gyro, it seems like he's got his sights on making sure Mimoko never becomes a chess star. As for how he hopes to achieve that? All I'll say is that there will be plenty of other cocky DESPER wielding villains yet to come.

Uploaded some art of the Desperado league. I wanted to make everyone look more menacing, but sadly my artistic skills aren't at the level needed to pull that off.
I also decided that the Desperado league's theme song will be Bach's prelude and fugue in E minor BWV 533. I think the piece fits the league very well, not to mention classical music goes great with chess.
