Should have taken the shoes. Now, he's trapped for another adventure.

The one thing that stands out to me about your writing is its randomness. It's fun and all, but I can't help but wonder if it comes at the cost of plot cohesion at times.

Then again, maybe you're going for something like the Phantom Tollbooth but for an older audience. Everything is a caricature and things just happen in weird ways.
