Someone else mentioned the gravity thing and I didn't even think about the 'reality' of some of those until mentioned. The lesser gravity was just some gimmick to make everything easier for flying and carrying stuff or whatever. Science of the future solves everything but human relations, brrrr. 😂
I pretty much wrote Arwain head empty and looking at only what was in front of him, which pretty much extended to the rest of the novel. Probably could have thrown in more day-to-day interactions with the rest of the crew but that's like something you'd expect in a lengthy shounen series (god, I wanted it to end before it came to that 😩)
In regards to the politics parallel, what happened kinda fell in line with the American public after the elections. The 'bad guy' in the minds of people that cared won, but the majority voted and moved on and gave no more shits. No one talks about it anymore and has pretty much resigned themselves to the outcome. That sentiment was worked into the mayor's scheme - only those involved cared, while the public remembers only who/what they want to. As such, Arwain was pretty much the normal voter who tuned in right before casting a vote, while most of Silver Stream had long picked up on the mayor's faults. Even if science fixes everything, getting people to care will always be a challenge.
I don't really mind that you like this one over Grace. I just prefer writing something like Grace because I like to throw in loads of dumb references (not that I didn't for this one, but they weren't the anime kind like I normally do). Felt a bit disconnected to this story as a result, but it's what it is. Scifi's not something I normally write so I tried hard to do something else different as well.
Anyways, thanks for the essay. I'll make sure I add a himbo or two whenever I write something down the line, just to humor you. 😂 (It's like how I keep writing in a Kit character for the fun of it).
