if Mary's dialogue towards the end there feels a little on the nose that leafy was unable to pick up those hints, I will adjust it when I get home haha so please let me know if it's fine or I should adjust it

Ah, looks like things are more complicated than I initially thought. I guess half of my theories might be out the window now, LOL.

Also, wait, this is a fantasy setting. Are we allowed to use words like "torpedo"? Haha. I initially had it in one of my chapters, but I thought I needed to change it. I used it as a verb, like you did here. It was just a really cool descriptor.

But yeah, Alara is definitely giving off mini-boss vibes. I miss her. I hope she snaps out of her mind-control state soon.

I went back to read a few chapters to see if I could identify this mysterious new person in white. I wasn't fully able to dive deep into my research because I'm a little occupied with other things at the moment, but from what I was able to find, I suspect that, based on how many times the story keeps placing emphasis on the past—the answers being in the past, happiness being in the past—I feel like the storyteller might be too obvious, but he's still on my suspicion board.

My next suspicion is that this person might either be connected to Dante through his former family, or be part of the crew that went with him to fight the Mad God.

and I really wish I could explore more of the demon queen candidates and their stories. But they were primarily included to add more flavor and expand the demon realm where Mary is from. and to add to Emilia's growing frustrations of course lol
But the story is mainly between Mary's struggles and goals, as well as her eventual confrontation with her little baby sister, whom she may or may not have abandoned by accident.

I'm really glad you like the in between interactions of the characters. honestly, it has been more enjoyable to write than the action scenes. you really get to see what Mary is fighting for in these moments. don't get me wrong though, writing Mary's action scenes is still so much fun.
